The sentence I hear the most as a yoga teacher is “I should really do yoga but…”. We all seem to have a barrier to giving yoga a try; “I don’t have the time”, “I’m not flexible”, “it’s a bit too hippy for me”, “I’d be embarrassed to go to a class”. So many of these barriers are based on false ideas of what “good yoga'“ looks like. People worry that to be a “good yogi” you have to devote hours to your practice, that you have to be super flexible or strong, or that you have to be confident enough to don some super-tight leggings to step foot into a studio.
I started Some Yoga because I want to break down these barriers, because there’s not a single person I know who wouldn’t find some benefit from yoga. I’m working to take the pressure off, to try and remove some of the judgement in yoga, and to keep things simple. I want everyone to feel that they are good enough to give some yoga a try.
